A Welcome Message From Our Founder

Hi!  I'm Cynthia Carpathios, founder of Independent Ohio.

I'm a lifelong independent, living in Canton, Ohio, and am so happy to be joining with fellow independents to change the culture of politics. Independent Ohio is working to support structural political reforms like nonpartisan Top Two open primaries and nonpartisan redistricting reform that can open up the process to independents, giving us a stronger voice. And we believe that this can benefit everyone.

We believe that independents, those 40% of us Americans who do not identify as a member of a political party, are in the best position to impact the partisanship and gridlock that, sadly, have come to characterize our political process and that make it so hard for us to move forward in addressing the serious issues that we face as a nation.

Join with us in this work of transforming the political culture of our state and of our country.

You can reach me at

We'd love to hear from you.
